Lois Wheeler, born as Lois Willburn on December 22, 1920, in Nampa, Idaho, was an empathetic soul who held compassion in the highest regard. As Mark Twain once said, "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." Lois lived this sentiment, touching the lives of all she encountered with her kindness, understanding, and love. Her journey on earth concluded on October 16, 2025, in her cherished residence of Boise, Idaho. She was a beacon of light both to her family and to the community that she loved dearly.
Lois was a dedicated partner to her late husband, whom she married on January 2, 1960. Together, they built a life filled with love and mutual respect. After retiring, Lois discovered a newfound passion for visiting the Oregon coast and lighthouses, captivated by the majestic beauty of the Pacific Northwest. The sight of soaring birds, the sound of the ocean waves, and the serene beauty of lighthouses brought her immense joy and peace. This interest was not surprising, as she herself was a guiding light for many, always ready to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, and a comforting shoulder.
Above all, Lois valued her family. Like the lighthouses she admired, Lois was a guiding force in the lives of her loved ones, providing warmth, love, and steadfast support. Her father, who preceded her in death, instilled in her the values of empathy and compassion that she carried throughout her life. As we remember Lois, let us celebrate her life and the love she shared with the world, keeping in mind the words of Albert Schweitzer, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others."
Please take a moment to share your memories of Lois on the memorial page and to upload any pictures that you have of her. This will not only help us remember her as the exceptional person she was, but also celebrate a life well-lived. Her light may have dimmed on earth, but her memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
