Evelyn Baker

Sarasota, Florida

Evelyn Marie Baker, known affectionately as Evie, passed away on October 27, 2025. Born in Boise, Idaho on July 20, 1938, she lived a life defined by love, joy, and a charismatic spirit that could light up any room. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she always had a funny story to tell, a warm smile to share, and a courageous heart that led her to run marathons even at the age of 90.

Evelyn's passion for helping others was evident in her career as a medical doctor. Her dedication to her profession was matched only by her commitment to her family, whom she loved dearly. In her retirement, Evelyn found joy in knitting and quilting, garnering multiple awards for her exquisite handiwork. She was also a proud member of the Sarasota Knitting Club, where her charismatic personality and love for her craft inspired many.

A devoted Christian, Evelyn served her community and her faith with unwavering commitment. She sang in the choir and lived out the verse from Galatians 5:13, "Serve one another humbly in love." Just as Taylor Swift sang, "When you're young, you just run, but you come back to what you need," Evelyn always returned to her family, her faith, and her service to others. She was, in every sense, a beacon of love and light to all who knew her.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Fred Baker, her children Amy, John, and Fred Baker and Sally Doe, her siblings John Baker and Sally Doe, and her 20 beloved grandchildren, including Mary Jones and Sean Cornell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Sandra Baker.

Services were under the direction of Your Funeral Home. We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Evelyn on her memorial page. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be missed.
